Colton Herta has blazed onto the Indycar scene his rookie season.  While the entire Andretti Autosports team is struggling to various degrees this year (that could be another article in itself) there is no doubt that Herta at least within the Indycar world possesses top-level talent

Zac Brown and the McLaren crew are dangling a large F1 carrot in front of him and he is undoubtedly frustrated by the outright dysfunction in the Andretti Garage. At the same time, McLaren Racing has STACKED the deck. It looks very likely that their Indycar lineup next year will consist of Oward, Rossi, and Palou. Without a doubt, this is a top-notch trio and with the retention of Rosenquist within the roster as well as Herta in the F1 testing program, McLaren is not shy about their commitment to all of the top levels of open-wheel racing

While most any driver worth their salt looks at F1 as the ultimate goal, Indycar is nothing to laugh at. It is arguably the most competitive series in motorsports and legit talent like Dixon, Rossi, Power,  and even Ex F1 drivers like Grosjean will attest to the fact that it will be fooling to scoff at the challenge and thrill of contesting for an Indycar title

For Herta it appears the best path forward is to impress in the F1 tests he gets and hope that the roster shakeup at Andretti Autosports next season allows him to show his true talent and realize his potential within Indycar

Question remains – is it good to have these perceived distractions and mixed loyalties. Only time will tell, but let us know in the comments what you think the future holds for this talented young driver.
